Full Description
Bastion is a marvellous city of science, but when a great catastrophe struck the world, the top leaders realised that they could never provide for all the citizens long enough for the outside world to become safe again. Instead, they opted to take one of their citizens greatest inventions, the stasis device, and expand it’s affects across the entire city, putting them all in suspended animation until the planet became safe again. However, there was a flaw in the device known as anomalies. Microscopic bubbles of conflicting energy that turned the stasis field into a field of randomised activity, inverted gravity, thermal redistribution, quantum displacement and more. The tech’s inventor tried to warn that if you scaled up the stasis field, you would scale up the otherwise harmless anomalies too, and their affects could tear the city apart. Despite being the inventor, the experts and geniuses who made the redivisions felt they understood the science better than a mere Highschooler who stumbled across this marvel, and that there was no reason for the anomalies to scale, so even if the field was bigger, they would remain microscopic. As such, the populace went into pods, all non-essential infrastructure was shutdown, and a giant stasis field, pre-programmed to shutdown every few hundred years was activated, encasing the city. Scared they might still be right, the custodian used their original prototype to shield themself from the affects, and remained awake when the city was put to sleep. For weeks, months, even years, everything was fine, and they began to regret their choice to remain awake and isolated, but then, strange things started to happen, and the true test of their commitment began.
Game Details
“Stasis is a physics based puzzle game, where you manipulate forces like gravity, thermal, temporal and kinetic energy, as well as the states of matter in your environment to solve traverse the city, overcome obstacles and contain catastrophes. You must gather up scraps and required components to expand your prototype, while also working towards completing a device capable of automatically containing and neutralising anomalies. The biggest twist however is that while your environment is already crazy enough, years of isolation has destabilised your own mind, trying to discern what’s real from hallucination is just another challenge the player must overcome. Built for the PC and XBox, the single player story mode promotes creative thinking through a series of challenges with multiple solutions and an open world you can explore that forces you to manage resources and plan ahead.”
